FRANK -- ADOPTED 10/31/05!!
Hi my name is Frank. I just turned 1 years old on June 22, 2005. I am very handsome and I'm fawn. My foster Mommy just had me neutered. I weigh about 16 lbs and have a lot of energy. I love to play, run and chase my foster siblings around. I am crate trained, but need a little help when I'm out of the crate. Now that I am neutered, this should help me not want to lift my leg in the house. I need little reminders like: "Frank NO POTTY in the house" "potty outside". I still make a mistake here and there if I'm not reminded "NOT TO" and if I'm not taken out regularly.
My family gave me up because they were told NOT to keep me in the house with the "baby" so they kept me outside. A nice lady found out and got my family to give me up and then she called Great Lakes Pug Club & Rescue so they could find me a new home.
I would like my forever home to have a fenced yard so I can run and play. I would LOVE to have another pug brother or sister or some type of a small dog for a playmate. I love to drink out of the garden hose and to try and catch the water. Kids would be great to play with but they would need to be a little older because I have a lot of energy and might knock them down on accident.

Hi My name is Lucy. I'm a fawn female, spayed pug and I weigh 21 lbs (and my foster mommy wants to make sure I don't gain anymore weight and would still would like me to lose another pound, even though she thinks I'm very lovable this way but wants me to live a long time). I just turned 4 years young on July 30, 2005 (that's my birthday). When I came to my foster mommy's house I had a really bad UTI (that stands for urinary tract infection) so bad that I needed to have surgery to remove all of the stones that were in my bladder. All is great now. I'm all fixed up. I will need to stay on antibiotics for another 5 months just to make sure the infection is all gone. I'm now eating regular hard dog food (Pro-Plan small breed) and eating milk bones for my treats, which I get a lot of because my foster mommy loves me so much.

The house that I would like to be my forever home would have a fenced yard and even a another pug or smaller dog for a playmate. I LOVE to play outside, tug and chase. I also LOVE to give kisses, go for walks and to sleep in my foster mommy's bed. Kids would be great too.

p.s. I chase the vacuum cleaner cause I think it's going to get me.

My family gave me up because I have eye problems and they did not want to spend the money on getting my eyes fixed. Well...I did have eye problems but my foster mommy took me to a eye specialist vet and found out if I had a surgery to make my eyes not open so big then I would be better and not have the eye ulcers that have happened in the past. So my foster mom took me to have the surgery and the vet sewed my eyelids closed just a little bit, that way not so much of the white part of my eyes would show, (you can see me here in one of my pictures with the stitches in my eyelids). The large eye opening is one reason I had an ulcer in my eye. Anyways the doctor said that my surgery went really well but I might need to have a special ointment put in my eyes maybe 1-2 times per week and that my new owners must be able to pay close attention to my eyes*, but that I should be just fine.

I would like my forever home to have a fenced yard so I can run and play, hey I'm still a puppy and have LOTS of energy!!! I would LOVE to have another pug brother or sister or some type of a small dog for a playmate. I LOVE to play outside, tug and chase. I also LOVE to give kisses, to be held like a baby and walks. Kids would be great too just not to small cuz I might knock them down on accident.
*NOTE: It is not uncommon for pugs to have eye problems and many need eye drops or ointment from time to time.
Buster & Clyde
Buster and Clyde were given up to rescue because as their owners added children to their family they became "too busy" to keep their pugs. (Unfortunately this is something we hear alot in rescue.......) Buster is a 6 yr old fawn male, he is neutered and weighs 33 lbs. Clyde is a 5 yr old black male, he is also neutered and weighs 30 lbs. The family that surrendered them hoped that they could stay together because they been companions for years. They were not placed together but each is doing fine..

Buster

From Buster's former owner: "....Buster is just about as special as a dog can get. He's a fawn purebred. This June he will be 6 years old. He's so loveable & cute. He loves to snuggle! He's the dominant dog so if Clyde is snuggling with me & Buster jumps on the couch Clyde will get up & move to my feet so Buster can lay by me.
He loves going on walks, & after his walks he loves a cool floor to lay on. His favorite place to sleep is on top of the couch cushion, almost like a cat would. He loves to playa game where you tap his paw real quick then pull back & he "play bites" your hand. He loves to be outside. It is very important to me that he has a fenced in backyard to run around in."

Pugsley Pugsly is a 6yr old fawn male. He weighs about 18 pounds. He is neutered and all shots updated. HWT to be done. Good with children and other dogs. Currently he needs a little watching in the house to keep him honest. He is smart and can take a correction well. He lost the sight of one eye when he was a pup but that doesn't cause him any problems. He has a real sweet personality and is a charmer.
ADOPTED!!
Pugsly now has a new home.

Sadly he was a stray when rescued from the Wisconsin Humane Society. Except for needing neutering and a teeth cleaning he is in good health.
Benny
I HAVE A NEW HOME!!!
This 7 year old pug was bought out of the local paper by a rescuer because he was listed as an "INDOOR/OUTDOOR" Pug! Can you believe it? He was outside in the doghouse and kennel run. This guy is very sweet, and wants nothing but to be with you, and to please. I don't think he has had alot of love or attention up to now - he is thriving, and very happy here in his foster home. He of course has been neutered, and is doing very well with housetraining. They also had to pull eight teeth on him.

+ACo-Drop boxes are attached to the outside wall of some shelters to keep people from tying dogs to the fence at night which they do to
avoid turning them over and paying the "give-up" fee some shelters require.
NAME: Whimsy Adopted!!
AGE: She is probably between 6 and 8 years old.
Whimsy is a middle aged fawn female pug who was left in a "drop box" at a shelter in Indiana on a snowy night in March. Needless to say this poor baby was quite cold and scared when shelter staff found her the next morning. She was found to be heartworm positive and is currently undergoing treatment for the heartworms so will not be available for adoption until treatment and the recovery period is over (probably May). She will also be spayed before being placed. She is a sweet girl who is looking for a happy ending to her story. Will you be her forever home?

Adopted!!
NAME: Olive
Black, Spayed Female
BORN: June 1, 2003
Olive is a little baby that needs some potty training. She was an owner give up b/c they could only have 1 dog where they lived. She is crate trained. You'll know when she has to go potty, she starts to make circles. Olive knows how to sit and come when she wants to. She needs to go to a home without LARGE dogs, another pug size dog would be great. NO big dogs. Not sure on cats. Great with kids. Olive loves to be outside, loves to be held, loves to play tag and chase with other smaller dogs.

ADOPTED!!
TUFFY
"Tuffy" is a 2 1/2 year old neutered male who wants to be with someone all the time and will whine or cry if confined away from people. He is very agile -- he gets over the gates in his foster home set at 18", 24", and 32" tall. It would be best for him to go to an only dog home so he can get all the attention. While the previous owner had housebreaking issues with him, the foster home has not and he does get along with the other pugs there so long as it's not feeding time.
*Please note that the availability of dogs can change quickly. This web page is kept as up to date as possible but dogs do come in and out of rescue on a frequent basis.
